Mango Green
Mango green or raw mangoes are picked when just ripe. Mangoes grow at the ends of long stalks on green trees in (sub)tropical regions around the world. Think of countries such as: India, Mexico and Brazil. Raw mangoes are small, green oval mangoes with a beautiful green color. The appearance of these mangoes can vary from variety to variety but there are no very big differences. Because the mangoes are not yet fully developed, the seeds are small and the flesh is very firm and crunchy.
Origin Mango Green
Mangoes originated about 5,000 years ago in Southeast Asia stretching from eastern India to southern China. The Portuguese played an important role in the spread of the mango. In fact, they were the first to establish a mango trade, about the end of the 15th century. There are as many as 500 different varieties of mangoes. So mangoes are grown in a lot of different countries. In this regard, India is one of the largest growing areas for mangoes. The largest growing areas outside India are Haiti, Mexico, Brazil, the Philippines and China. In the United States, mangoes are grown to a lesser extent in Hawaii, Florida and Southern California.
The taste
The taste of these raw mangoes is sharply sour and can be slightly bitter. This is because raw mangoes contain concentrations not present in ripe mangoes. The skin of a raw mango contains certain oils that can be slightly sensitive to humans.
